Kate's Preschool Adventures 10.22.18-10.26.18
It was a fun week that included seeing my little mermaid and her classmates show off their Halloween costumes in the school’s annual parade. I also loved that in the classroom this week, Kate worked to identify colors with a classmate; improved her scissor skills; and played a matching game with peers.
Below are a few highlights of Kate’s week, October 22 – 26, 2018, taken from her facilitator’s daily note:
Alongside Campbell and Luke, Kate worked on using magazine cutouts to form a beginning, middle, and end for a story about insects. We will continue this work over the course of the week.
This morning Kate practiced cutting out her insect wings. We will continue to work on holding the scissors as well as opening and closing them. Kate did well with following the line to cut (with some verbal reminders).
This morning, Kate used the Bug Bingo board to work with Campbell, Keith, and Reese to match colored gems to the insects that also had the same colors on their bodies. Keith worked with Kate to help her identify the colors of the gems and then match each to the insects on the board.
Today, Kate and Mary Elliott did easel painting together. Kate also worked at the writing table to make mail for her friend, Alexander. We worked on making some circle shapes for him.
We loved seeing all of our friends dressed up in their costumes this morning. Equally, we loved seeing all of the families at the parade as well. Following the parade, we returned to the room and Kate played a matching game with Ava and Campbell. Kate did a great job in following the instructions to choose only one card when it was her turn, as well as to match the card with her board.
